About the South African Bee Industry Organisation

The South African Bee Industry Organisation represents the beekeeping industry of South Africa at local, regional, national and international level. SABIO acts as representative in all dealing with government and all forums affecting the South African beekeeping industry. Our mission is to promote and represent the interests of all persons involved in the South African beekeeping industry and by doing so to support and develop an economically viable and sustainable apicultural sector and ensure the environmental security of the honey bee.

SABIO Membership

• Individual Membership – Small scale and development beekeepers (Operating less than 200 beehives)
• Commercial membership – Commercial beekeeping entity (Operating with 200 – 800 beehives)
• Professional membership – Commercial beekeeping entity (Operating with more than 800 beehives)
• Corporate membership – Associated corporate businesses
• Association / Cooperative membership – Functional groups organised as associations or cooperatives
