Bee Removal and Relocation Complete Course
The overall bee removal course goal is that students be able to effectively and professionally remove and relocate wild bee colonies anywhere.
Points raised and discussed are:
- Preliminary assessment of a removal
- Evaluate the risks to client, neighbors and him/her self
- Assess the approach with regards to the safety aspects and the actual removal
- Decide on the appropriate approach, cut-out or out-trapping
- Determine responsibilities of the client and him/her self
- Plan and safely remove the colony
- Relocate and retain the colony
- Evaluate considerations with regards to your nursing apiary
- Importance of third party liability insurance
A very long day’s bee removal course training from 08H30 to 21H30 (Theory until lunch. After lunch the set-up of an out-trapping and thereafter we start doing actual bee-removals, relocating colonies into hives)
Cost R2800 pp (All meals and refreshments included)
To be held at The Honey Bee Group’s nursing apiary east of Silver Lakes, Pretoria
Course material and relevant documents will be supplied on a USB Flash disc, such as:
- DALRRD (Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development) registration form as this is a legislative requirement for keeping bees.
- NBA (Northern Beekeepers Association) membership application form
- SABIO (South African Bee Industries Organisation) membership application form
- Van Der Laan beekeepers liability insurance application form
- An attendance certificate will also be issued (digital format)
